Wrynecks, Deer Park

2 or 3 Wryneck on the Deer Park this afternoon. The first was just along the central path, between the steep path up and the lookout, next was by the gap on the ramparts and the third south of the lookout (the first sighting and this last sighting may have been the same individual). The whole of the Deer Park is like a huge ant colony with mounds everywhere, I concentrated on the sheltered section either side of the central path and was lucky to spot one of the Wryneck perched on top of a mound before it spotted me and disappeared into the bracken. I've left some of the images uncropped, have a go at Wryneck spotting!

 Otherwise quiet on the walk across from Marloes, all the action was in Martins Haven and the Deer Park. First bird I saw was a female redstart in Sashs garden, along with a handful of Willow warblers and 2 Backcaps, there were other warblers flitting in the depths of the withys but impossible to see what they were for sure. Family group of 6 Whitethroat getting annoyed at a perched female Kestrel. 2 Wheatear. Flock of 20 chough. Dunlin and Ringed plover flying over.
