Single bird towards the west of the bay, loosely in association with nine great crested grebes. Plumage in transition to breeding plumage. Photos attached are very heavily cropped, at the limit of my lens but clear views through a scope showed flat head with peak towards the back, red eyes and yellow feathers above the eye. Similar shape but much smaller than the great crested grebes it was with.
