Two or three Sand Martins were over the mere at lunchtime and drifting north. On the mere were the usual winter visitors - female Goldeneye, two pairs of Tufted Ducks and one pair of Gadwall. In the late afternoon a couple of thousand Golden Plover were swirling over the peninsula and appeared to settle near West Hook fields.
