Marloes Mere and Brynberian

Good to see the Shelduck with 3 ducklings earlier in the week but were down to 2 this evening, the nesting crow made a grab for one but was chased off by the female. Coot youngsters are looking well and growing. A flock of 26 Chough between the mere and Martins Haven. Single swift tonight (3 earlier in the week) and a Cuckoo flitting around. Water levels have dropped and vegetation has got higher so harder to see what's out there now. Single drake Teal, single drake Gadwall, single female Wigeon and about a dozen Shoveler. Spotted flycatchers out from Britton hide last two visits. Nice to see quite a few pairs of Bullfinch on the drive from Hwest. With a Yellowhammer at the White Hart crossroads in the week.

A big sweep of Brynberian over the weekend turned up 3 more Whinchat (2m and a female), Cuckoo calling distantly. At least 4 Wheatear on the rocky outcrops with a Grey squirrel having a good look around presumably for chicks and eggs. The buzz of Lesser redpoll ever present. A few Green hairstreak on the wing.
