Brynberian

Lisa and I spent over 3 hours slogging around sometimes difficult terrain at Brynberian Moor this afternoon.  We found 2 pairs of Whinchat but they seem to be being outcompeted by Stonechats which were everywhere.  Also here at least 7 Lesser Redpoll, a singing Grasshopper Warbler and a male Common Redstart.

Earlier we had 2 Black Guillemots in Fishguard Harbour which is hopefully a positive sign.

Last Monday on Skomer I was delighted to see a juvenile Curlew on one of the paths, the first time I have ever seen one in Pembrokeshire.  So sad that these are the last remaining breeding pairs in the county.

Finally, like Bob & Annie we have recently recorded a singing Yellowhammer at Hasguard Cross (thanks to some temporary traffic lights!).
