Nightjars, Ty Rhyg

Sunday. Paul and I had a first nightjar visit of the year. 2 males getting territorial, with some excellent flight views on and off for 30 minutes, and another bird churring along the main track. Tawny owl and Grasshopper warbler providing backing vocals.

Saturday. Crossbills making the most of the cone crop on the spruce and scots pines, some birds really low down with one on the track. Willow tits in two spots. 2 Spotted flycatcher and distant cuckoo. Puncheston Common: Cuckoo here as well and one mobile or two different Grasshopper warblers. A bit of a blustery northerly wind so just a couple of Marsh fritillary, Green hairstreak and a Green-veined white.
