Sea Trust Pelagic

A great day out yesterday on a Sea Trust Pelagic with calm seas and sunshine. Some 350 plus Common Dolphins were seen in total including many very small youngsters. The icing on the cake, however, was a scattered group of Fin Whales of up to 5 individuals. They proved difficult to follow diving for long periods and surfacing a long way off but eventually we got some great views of their blows and their massive backs as they came up for air.

A few Puffins were seen as well as plenty of Gannets and a few Guillemots with their chicks. Manx Shearwaters provided some excellent views as they were rafting in large groups, often close to the Fin Whales.

Many thanks to Cliff Benson and Sea Trust and to skipper Andy Rickard for a rewarding, enjoyable day out. See also Cliff's report on the Whales in Wales blog
