For the 4th year in a row a Yellow-legged Gull has appeared in the autumn on the Hook peninsular, showing first in August for the last 3 years. Consistent in habit each year, it may well be the same bird with a favoured autumn haunt.
Waders are increasingly turning up on the mud flats at the mouth of Sprinkle Pill with, today, numerous Curlews, 10 Redshanks, 2 Greenshanks a Whimbrel and 2 Bar-tailed Godwits. 7 Little Egrets and a Grey Heron were also present.
2 Sand Martins passed over Fowborough Point, heading south, the first time I've seen them in autumn passage here.
