Little Tern

Nice to meet Blair Jones from Gwent at the Gann, who had opted to visit there after our pelagic trip had been cancelled due to the weather.  It proved to be a smart move, as the murky weather had dropped an adult Little Tern onto the lagoon in front of us.  After doing a couple of circuits of the top end looking for food, it sat down on some mud surrounding one of the islands for 5 minutes or so, before flying south down the lagoon. Presumably it kept going as we could not find it again.

Adult Little Tern.  Although they breed in small numbers in North Wales, this remains a scarce bird in Pembrokeshire.  I think this is just my 2nd sighting in 36 years in the county, and is most definitely a new bird for the Gann for me.  Happy days!

Also at the Gann a 2CY Med Gull, 2 Dunlin, 6 Ringed Plover, a Greenshank and 8 Redshank.  I managed to read 3 colour-rings in the roosting Oystercatcher flock which was about 60 strong (and using the shingle island at the top of the lagoon).
