Gann Marsh

5-600 Swallows roosting in the reeds above the bridge at the River Gann near Marloes. They can be seen from the roadside just before dusk each evening at the moment.

The Pembrokeshire Ringing group have been ringing at the site for many years and this is the best year for a long time (2023 numbers were poor), so a good breeding year?  None of our own ringed swallows have been retrapped on site, so the Gann marsh at Winterton is an important night roost for birds heading south for the winter. It is the only extensive reed bed in the area.
