A leisurely look around the airfield this afternoon. A Merlin was dashing around much of the time I was there, at one time it put up a pipit and relentlessly pursued it. Just when it seemed to be getting the better of it a couple of jackdaws got involved and its focus was lost. It put up a flock of 50 linnet, otherwise just a handful of pipits and skylark and a few Redwing mostly in the coastal bracken. A flock of c200 Golden plover wheeled around before dropping down towards Philbeach. I stopped off at Marloes mere intending to stay till dusk and watched from the roadside for 30-40 minutes before the misty drizzle made viewing difficult. As I walked from the car park I could hear the Peregrines, which were unsettling the large flock of starling and jackdaws that had settled on and around Trehill farm. The Marsh harrier was hunting around between 2:40-3pm, occasionally settling in the sedges.
