It was nice to bump into Toby this afternoon, watching 4 relatively confiding great northern divers, as they rested together before splitting up to feed.

Earlier in the day, watching from Lower Town harbour, we noted a summer-plumage black guillemot resting approximately mid-way across the bay in Goodwick Harbour. It was too distant for a photo. There was no sign of it later on from the inner breakwater.
Two dippers were on the river upstream from Lower Town; one (a male) was singing frequently in between short feeding bouts.
There were not many black-headed gulls in either harbour today. There were very few at Pembroke Millpond a couple of days ago (perhaps some have already started to move back to their breeding colonies?) but a noticeable increase in lesser black-backed gulls in South Pembs. A kingfisher was noted at a fairly regular spot near the Castle Pond and another at Cosheston Pill.
