A slow wander around the mere tonight. At least 5-6 Black redstart, (3-4 around the edges of the sheep field beside the car park, and 2 on Runways kiln cafe). The blackthorn is alive with small black midges which the redstarts were snatching, as were the plentiful chiffchaff, willow warblers and a handful of Blackcap inc first female. A Short-eared owl was doing circuits of the rough area near the trig point.
