Just seen two falcons high over Llawhaden from the garden hawking insects! I lost one in very quickly but managed to watch the other one careering around, intermittently catching something in flight until lost from view in the vast blue sky. Even though they were distant they had to be Hobbies, given their long pointed wings, rakish outline and aerobatic insect catching behaviour, but not sure I could rule out Red footed Falcon at that range! Although when the sun momentarily caught the upperparts they looked uniform and even slightly brownish, something I have noticed on female/2nd cal yr female hobbies before....
Also 2 swifts flying around the village today and early this morning Tree Pipit and 3 Spotted Flycatchers at Minwear. Sadly no Wood warblers.....yet....?
