Good to see a few more Whinchat out on Brynberian Moor and bump into Paddy and Carys, who had more positive news. Thankfully it looks like the Whinchat are doing ok after the depressing scenes following the burn earlier in the season. A first Grasshopper warbler as well. And the first keeled skimmers and a solitary Southern damselfly. After the heavy rain the streams were belting through and some of the flushes were more like ponds. No cuckoos here for the last couple of visits. By contrast 2-3 cuckoos including a female being chased by pipits up on Carnedd Meibion Owen and an unexpected Tree pipit. A few young Willow tits appearing in Ty Rhyg now among mixed flocks of Long-tailed tits and Coal tits. Spotted flycatchers and a distant cuckoo here likely Morvil way. Lots of young Willow warblers and Chiffchaff. Redstarts have been hard to come by there this year. A quick look on Puncheston Common last week turned up a handful of Marsh fritillary and a cuckoo calling here as well.
