First stop this evening was to catch up with the 2 Glossy ibis, which were still in the same field by the church. Despite their choice of a fairly public spot they are easy to miss and dismiss as corvids if you're not on ibis alert. Nice to catch up with a couple after they seem to be everywhere this autumn.
Best on a good look around the airfield was the Hooded crow by the water trough, my arrival unfortunately coincided with the farmer heading out on his quadbike to check the sheep so probably no surprise there were no waders on the runways.
I stopped off at the Gann for high tide at dusk. Big tide so hardly any bank available, most of the waders were crammed onto the islands and the very edges of the pools. 48 redshank, 8 barwits, 6 dunlin, 2 turnstone, 2 greenshank, the curlew sandpiper and spotted redshank still here. The kingfisher was fishing from beneath the egret roost, 6 little egret, 2 heron. 12 wigeon, 2 Little grebe and a moorhen flushed out by the big tide. A sleeping juvenile gannet in the bay (may be sick) it did put it's head up briefly but last seen drifting up the river. Only 20 Med gulls, but lots of black heads feeding on the seaweed on the tideline at full tide with what appeared to be a BH/Med hybrid among them. Just looking through some photos it looks like there was a possible little stint which I completely missed. The day had started off pretty well with a hummingbird hawkmoth outside the kitchen window while I was waiting for the kettle to boil. There was also a Manx ringed herring gull F66:M at the weekend still waiting on details.
