Rosebush: 11 Tufted duck (7male), 3 coot, 3 Little grebe
2nd attempt to do the gulls WeBS count after getting rained off just at dusk last weekend.
Llys-y-fran: plenty of gulls on the very choppy water at 3pm most were towards the southern side, but within minutes of setting up the scope following a heavy downpour they lifted off and settled up by the hide. By the time I'd walked up they'd moved a bit closer opposite the mast. I did a count of 2700 LBBs and 1500 BH gulls at 3:45pm - this was just a snapshot with likely at least double the LBBs out of sight and activity on the water causing the gulls to reposition. Aside from my failing count attempts there were also some interesting large gulls to distract me. At least 7 Yellow-legged gulls, 5 adult, a 1st w and a sub-adult (lower photo). A probable adult Caspian (top photo), unfortunately as is always the case here it is nigh on impossible to get a good look at all of the key ID features. 2 adult Argentatus-type herring gulls, 9 Med gulls 7 adult and 2 1st w. 4 GC grebe, 3 Little grebe, 25 mallard, 2 teal, biggest surprise was 13 Goldeneye (9 male), these were flushed by a ranger boat that did a circuit just before dusk.
