Chiffchaffs - Monk Haven

A walk over to Monk Haven from the Gann this morning was rewarded with the sight of 5-6 Chiffchaff feeding around the filter beds at the water treatment works. Frustratingly though, good views were impossible as they flitted around snatching flies and dodging the carousel. There were 2 with pale undersides and greyer mantle and wings. They were sharing the filter beds with Pied wagtail, Grey wagtail, Goldcrest, Wren and Blackbird. Another Chiffchaff was feeding along the ditch across the road from the Gann parking area.
At the Gann: Dozen LT tits, 3 Goldcrest, pair Bullfinch in the scrub. 50 Curlew, 25 Redshank, 20 Ringed plover, 16 Turnstone, 10 Bar-tailed godwit, 5 Dunlin, 5 Grey plover, 4 Greenshank, single Snipe. 50 Teal, 50 Wigeon (inc 10 on Musselwick side), 5 Shelduck, single Goldeneye and the merganser was on the river. 7 Little grebe. 30 Common gull.
