The water level in the Marsh was high late this afternoon, but there were few birds to be seen apart from c20 curlew, small flocks of starling and the occasional snipe. Three shooters who tried to get into the Marsh from the south were prevented by the flood. Their dogs put up 3 teal which flew out of range; as they did a merlin flew low over the guns and the Marsh disappearing into the scrub on the northern side.
