The peregrine photographed at St. Bride's Bay [I
think on Sunday] that Bob Haycock has raised concern over it's foot, is I
believe fit and healthy. The claws on it's foot can be seen, and the blood
is presumedly from a recent kill. The bird is standing on it's right foot,
the left foot tucked up amonst it's feathers. If the foot were
damaged the bird would favour it's left foot holding the right foot up. I
attach a drawing of the foot, with the position of the claws and the position of
the outer toe [not seen in photo].
I hope that this will allay concern over this
bird.
