From Mike Cross - Great afternoon in Pembrokeshire today (Thursday) detouring from stay in Carmarthenshire. Surf Scoter showed well at Broad Haven. No sign of the Long Billed Dowitcher at The Gann. Not sure where best to look and memory of references on blog to below house became daunting when realised there were a few likely candidates for the relevant house. Not knowing the Gann I ended up crossing the "stepping stiones". No Dowitcher but a cracking views of almost summer plumaged Great Northern Diver at very close range. Also a Greenshank and a Bar Tailed Godwit.
Martin's Haven produced 2 Choughs. Arrived Marloes at 3:45 or so and viewing from the car park the Ring Necked Duck appeared out of nowhere with a male Tufted Duck before disappearing again into a short channel.
Buoyed by this piece of luck I gave the Gann another go on the basis that the first house on the main road was the best candidate and this time the Long Billed Dowitcher was out in the open. Superb, just disappointed that didn't have time to give Fishguard a go for Black Guillemots.
