A day of mixed fortunes. With the prospect of another sunny day I started off at Broadhaven north hoping for some photos of the Purple Sandpipers. I saw a couple in company with Turnstones some way off but with the tide coming caution prevailed so they will have to wait for another day.
On to Marloes where it was amazingly quiet - very few ducks and no sign of the Glossy Ibis which was no doubt lurking somewhere in the long grass. Two summer plumage Little Grebes right in front of the hide were, however, very entertaining trilling away and with a little courtship gathering of nest material.
At the Deer Park generally quiet again though 31 Gannets off the headland with a minimum of 8 Porpoises in the flooding tide below them ended things off nicely.
