Feeding avidly in the soaked pastures around Rudbaxton Water were c 600 Lapwings, lots of Starlings and at least 100 Redwings. Typical winter fare, yet at the same time Chaffinches, a Great Tit and a Song Thrush were singing and Snowdrops and Daffodils were in full flower.
Decided to head for home to watch the rugby, as there was probably more chance of unravelling the mysteries of the front row union than of the vagaries of our climate.
