BLACK-HEADED WAGTAIL - Marloes Mere

A stunning male Black-headed Wagtail (Yellow Wagtail subspecies feldegg) at Marloes Mere this afternoon.  Found early afternoon by a visitor, it took a while to find but eventually showed well.  It was favouring the short eastern bank of the southern irrigation reservoir, as viewed from the footpath beyond the Youth Hostel but before the Britton Hide - about 50-100m beyond the famous barbed wire gate.  Quite often out of view, but did show well from time to time, feeding in the short grass, muddy fringes and floating vegetation of the irrigation reservoir.  Presumably the same visitor claimed a Red-rumped Swallow (as written in the hide logbook) but it was not seen late afternoon.  The Glossy Ibis was seen briefly.
