Graham's cautious approach to reporting kites in the breeding season is probably justified in that kites are very sensitive to disturbance early on in the breeding season and they are still the target of egg collectors. However kites regularly hunt several km from the actual nest site, which is often very difficult to pinpoint even after many hours of field observations, so unless the sighting report mentions carrying of nest material or adults alarming it is unlikely to give away enough detail to inadvertently disclose a nest location.
The Pembrokeshire population is now over 25 pairs and 12 nests have been monitored this season - from which 11 chicks are about to fledge, compared to none in 2012.
