Hook & Marloes

A lovely morning at Hook doing my WeBS count along the Western Cleddau around to Sprinkle Pill.  The Golden Plover flock was very mobile around high tide and my best guess was 550 birds.  Other counts included 204 Redshank, 9 Greenshank, 9 Blackwit, 4 Barwit, 217 Lapwing, 138 Dunlin, 128 Teal, 152 Wigeon & 21 Greylags (a total of 1,586 birds as recorded by BTO).  Redwings were on the move.

A few hours around Dale & Marloes in the afternoon with Paul G weren't especially productive, but we also saw the 3 Whoopers to the west of the Mere and according to Pete Smithies at Trehill Farm they have been around for about a week.

Rosemary & Peter's Lesser Whitethroat is very interesting...quite possibly a bird of eastern origin (quite far east maybe, being this late).
