Around 130 birders took the opportunity to visit us today to see the Orphean, with the bird showing well on a number of occasions giving everyone good views.
The donations to the bucket appeared to have responded to my hope to raise over £1000 for Skokholm; just over £400 was raised today giving a grand total of £1185 from the 500+ visiting birders. Thanks to everyone who donated. Our final view of the bird today around 3.30 was unusual - it landed on the driveway almost next to the collection bucket - maybe it was just checking up!
We think that everyone who wanted to see the bird has now had an opportunity to do so, and we are not planning any further open days.
