Orphean
Having adopted a relaxed attitude to seeing the Orphean I succumbed to temptation today and visited Peter and Rosemary's garden (many thanks!). There were a number of other Pembs birders paying a late visit to see the bird so it seems I was not the only one to feel the pressure.
There was a very orderly crowd of 40 or so birders there with people travelling from as far as Aberdeen. After a half hour or so wait the Orphean duly turned up to gorge on apples and provided good views on and off for an hour or so before I left. The strong sunlight made photography a little difficult and I never quite got a clear shot (just 2 of my extensive collection of excuses) but for what they are worth here are a couple of photos of an exceptional bird.
Many thanks again to Peter and Rosemary and to all the local birders who have given their time to organise the car parking and marshalling of the viewings.
