"Orphean in the Undergrowth"

It was a pleasure to welcome so many birders both from the county and from far away to Orlandon Kilns over the past three days.

Many, many thanks to Dave Astins for using his event management skills so effectively, to Mike Young-Powell and Mark Hipkin for heroic marshalling duties and to all the other helpers who kept the people flowing and happy, and kept the roads clear for local traffic.

And thank you to all the birders who behaved impeccably, and were always friendly and cheerful.

As a result of everyone's generosity the total money collected in the bucket amounted to an amazing £736. Richard and Giselle can now spend their winter evenings deciding what to buy for Skokholm !

A birder from Manchester suggested that we could well have bragging rights to the "Best Garden Bird in the UK"  even if we misidentified it when first seen; must try harder!
