Godwits at Newport

2 Blacktail & 1 Bartail Godwits have been easily visible by the bridge for some weeks. 2 days ago the Blackwits were just upstream on the S side (a favourite spot) & the Barwit jusf downstream. Today (before the crowds) all 3 were feeding with 2 Little Egrets in the lime kiln creek.
Newport also had huge numbers of gulls. Mostly Black Headed (including an ad Med with a white ring which I couldn't read), but also several 00 Herrings & 50+ Common. As usual only a handfull of G & L Black Backs.
A flock of c80 Curlews wheeled over, but otherwise the warm weather is keeping numbers below average.
