Bumped into Derek on a brief visit yesterday evening. A few Pied wagtails on slope by Varna Cottage (and calling in fields along track) but no Yellows yet. c20 Sand martins with a single House Martin and later Derek picked out 4-5 swallows (first for the year). A Willow warbler singing by YHA. Otherwise still a few teal (poss20), the pair of gadwall, poss 4 pair Shoveler and the 3 Tufties till in N Irrigation pond. Derek had seen the Mute swan at BW gate but surprising how they can disappear in the vegetation when they want to. Peregrine over later and 3 chough.
