There have been more reports of cuckoos this spring around here than for many years. Apart from Brian's sighting of a pair at Marloes Mere on 17th (on the blog below), there was a bird calling at St Brides when we did our BBS on 16th and one calling at Monk Haven for a long period on 17th. A lady from St Brides says that she has heard cuckoo calling at St Brides woods on several occasions.
Most of the locals say they haven't heard a cuckoo here for at least 10 years and these two calling birds have generated quite a lot of interest. So is this good news or just a little blip?
