Classic winter birding in the north of the county today.
Thanks to the posting below (Here and There) we headed for the Preselis to look for Snow Buntings again having failed on the Crymych end of the ridge yesterday. Foel Feddau is the first peak from Bwlch Gwynt car park if you don't turn off to Foel Cwmcerwyn.
We were lucky to find 6 Snow Bunting but they were too mobile for photos as first a fox rushed over the ridge scattering them, then a pack of fox hounds was milling around followed by the hunt. Definitely worth the 3km walk through mud and ice. The only other birds seen were 2 Red Kite and a Snipe.
Then on to Coed Glynaeron again for a better view and photos of the Crossbill seen yesterday. Although we saw four near the gate they were all right in the tops of the high trees so another visit will be needed to satisfy the photographer!
A good mixed flock of 50+ Goldfinch, Siskin and Redpoll by the lorry turning area too.
Finally, on to the Teifi Marsh reserve in time to see tens of thousands of Starlings going into roost near Creek Hide.
