A welcome but very late addition to the 2017 garden list, this almost spherical visitor turned up as I was having breakfast, but almost exactly ten years after the only other Firecrest I have seen in my garden on the northern edge of Haverfordwest. There seem to be a lot around this winter. I have seen them at Porthclais, Haroldstone Woods, Picton Castle, Westfield Pill and St Brides, so have not needed to seek them out at the sewage treatment works. They seem particularly curious and come out into the open in response to playback of calls and song from the Collins Bird Guide app on my phone.
