Frainslake/Bluckspool areas (Castlemartin) this afternoon

A large lapwing flock (easily in excess of 1,000) was moving between Gupton/Castlemartin Corse and the MOD Range mid afternoon. They seemed to be heading over to a cattle-grazed/cattle-fed zone in the Range, probably to feed there.

85 curlews were roosting on the grassland near Bluckspool (a typical location for them) and 47 oystercatchers were roosting near Great Furzenip. The curlews were all too far away to be able to tell if any were ringed.

A couple of local razorbills (now in full summer plumage) were feeding offshore. A rather smart black-throated diver flew close to the Furzenips, giving brief but excellent views as it headed south into the offshore gloom. It had possibly been driven closer to the coast by quite a fresh westerly wind and a spell of drizzle.
