Redwings and Snipe
Friends have been ringing us up to tell us they have Redwings in their gardens. Gardens in Marloes, St Ishmaels and Broadhaven have about 30 each whilst we have 45 at Orlandon Kilns. There are also Fieldfares, Starlings and Mistle Thrushes in the mix too. My apple stores are getting seriously depleted! I wonder how many Redwings there in Pembrokeshire at present? We have also had 3 reports of Snipe in gardens though for some reason non-birdwatchers seem to call them Jack Snipe not realising this is a different species. All these poor birds are caught between a rock and a hard place - a snow covered England and a stormy Irish Sea - and I do worry for them. Here is a short video:
