Not an answer to Rosemary's question (see below), just another observation from last night.
This count from Steve Berry from the west end of the Gwaun Valley -- " Well in excess of a 1,000 Redwing in the woods at Llanychaer, also
several Fieldfare. Along the river 5 Snipe a Lapwing a single Common Gull
and Kingfisher."
