Skokholm
A lone Puffin rafting to the north of the Neck was very much on the early side; an oiled bird on 22nd January 1929 and a remarkable 26 on 2nd February 1983 are the only earlier records, with the earliest March record prior to today being of four on 12th March 1982. A Redshank on North Pond was darvic ringed '26', showing it to be the same Gann ringed bird which was present on Skok in March, April and November 2018. A Whimbrel in South Haven was almost certainly an overwintering bird, but its legs were not on show to see if it was the ringed bird present last November. The Snipe count reached a rather impressive 72, the highest post-War total to date. Other additions to the yearlist included a female Merlin at North Pond (and later chased by a Peregrine), a Black-tailed Godwit, four Common Gull in Broad Sound, a Stonechat at East Bog, four Canada Goose in the bog and a Reed Bunting singing at the Well. Other birds logged included 201 Fulmar, 31 Gannet, two Shag, two Shelduck, ten Wigeon, 14 Teal, two Shoveler, two Peregrine, 148 Oystercatcher (including seven colour ringed birds), a Curlew, six Mediterranean Gull, 277 Kittiwake, a lone Guillemot in with 263 Razorbill, 18 Skylark, 65 Wren, a Dunnock, five Robin, four Song Thrush, five Redwing, four Chough and 99 Starling.
