Garganey, Marloes Mere

Whilst trying to make sense of a presumed mallard-hybrid this evening, a female Garganey paddled through the scope view. (viewed from the track just beyond barb-wire gate looking towards the Oriole Hide). By the time I'd had a good look at the Garganey the other duck had disappeared. The 3 Pochard were still in the southern irrigation channel, they had a fly around but came back to same spot (best viewed from track at same place I was watching the Garganey). 2pr, 3m Shoveler. 6pr, 5m Teal. Mallard with 14 small ducklings. The 3 Coots still on their nests. First Swifts this evening, 4 on mere and single at Deer Park. Greenshank trying to find somewhere to settle on mere, 3 Black-tailed godwit and 2 Whimbrel. Dozen Wheatear together in one of Trehills fields and about 10 Pied/White wagtails behind Britton Hide.
