A few birds from the last 2-3 days:
Marloes Mere: 2 male, 1 female Pochard yesterday, quite flighty. As was/is the male Pintail: I had wondered if he had been “pricked”, but he flies perfectly. Over the Mere 4 Curlew, calling. And a report in the Britton hide book of a Hobby on the 29th. Lots of Sedge Warblers.
Trehill Farm fields: 12 Whimbrel, feeding very actively: presumably a refuelling stop.
Coast Path: Wheatears seem a bit scarce after the storm, but plenty of corvids, including 5 Rooks: we don’t often see them down here, but probably attracted by the ploughing. 3 Stonechats seen carrying food.
Martin’s Haven: a Collared Dove had a narrow escape from a Peregrine. The dove was flapping at our window, trying to get in, as the Peregrine swooped past.
St Anne’s Head: a summer plumage Red-throated Diver, flying North.
