Back in February Sam B posted a request for records of roof nesting gulls, particularly in N Pembs.
Today, during a visit to Newport I found 6 Herring Gulls sitting on nests on roofs in the town. The first seen, while drinking tea in the garden of a friend, on the chimney of the property opposite. Apparently they have nested there for several years and I was told that in the past the chicks have either fallen or been blown off ending up in the guttering where they have continued to be tended by the parents until fledging. Following this initial find we went on a walkabout and found another 5 nests on properties nearby. There may be more! Apologies if the interested persons have already been made aware of this location.
