A stroll along the coast path between Caerfai and Porth Clais this afternoon, produced only 2 pairs of chough in expected territory locations but a flock of c. 30-32 knot (two groups of 24 and c.6-8) came up from the south and flew west along the coast towards Ramsey Sound. If they hadn't been calling as they flew close to the coast we might have missed them.
And now for something completely different! Why did the lesser black backed gull cross the road? Well obviously to get to the other side. However this one (an adult) was waiting at the start of a zebra crossing on the exit road out of Tesco's in Pembroke Dock. We stopped our car of course and the gull confidently walked over the zebra crossing to the other side. If only we'd been able to record the event! Had this one learned something by watching us humans do the same in this quite busy place?
