Pembroke Millponds this afternoon

Ringed black-headed gulls have been turning up more or less annually in the autumn and early winter months over the years at Pembroke millponds.

Adult yellow/orange TJ55 (right leg) was there today. We last recorded it resting on exactly the same floating raft back in November 2017. If we recall it was ringed somewhere in SE England (still to check these details).

Little Grebe numbers had risen to at least 25 - the millponds being one of the main sites for them in the county during autumn/winter. A kingfisher put in a brief appearance.

The Castle pond was still the main attraction for black-tailed godwits – 96 were resting there this afternoon along with 3 redshanks.
