Amongst the 30 or so Rock Pipits at Abercastle beach yesterday morning, a noticeably different looking bird with bright white wing bars, browner upper parts and rump and less streaked, whiter underparts, yellow lower mandible. No particularly strong supercilium and the tail edges were white but not obviously so. Thanks to West Coast Birds for help identifying and ruling out everything else. The bird favours the beach next to the stream and was constantly seen off by the Rock Pipits. Also present, a single Meadow Pipit, a Stonechat feeding on the seaweed, 75 Black headed Gulls, and at nearby Longhouse, 55 Lapwing and 7 Golden Plover.
