Pairs of both Raven and Buzzard were flying around together in the sun yesterday afternoon. One of the Ravens flew close alongside and around one of the Buzzards for several minutes when it ventured near the traditional Raven nest site. There was no aggression and it seemed to be more a case of meeting up with a neighbour and reminding them of a protected zone. The Raven did one roll and a couple of wing flicks, but I did not see any contact.
A few minutes earlier and just along the hillside a female Sparrowhawk was not quite as courteous and dived at and chased off a hovering Kestrel.
A couple of hundred Lapwings flew westwards towards Marloes in the late afternoon, presumably some of Derek's feeding flock heading off to roost.
