Prior to meeting up with Brian I went to checkout the Lapwing / GP`s in the area, quite easy to locate as they were frequently wheeling around, I found their preferred field - a sloping ploughed one - with a ridge line before it dropped off to a steeper incline & all I could see was thousand's of Lapwing & GP heads poking up above the ridge line!
Occasionally something spooked them & they all took to flight before settling back down again, still nigh on impossible to count though. c2000 GPs 1500 Lapwing (?) Again a wandering Red Kite further towards Sandyhaven put up "several hundred" Lapwings from another field which joined up with the arial melee going on above me.
