A different ringed gull today, this time an adult Lesser Black-backed Gull with a dark blue ring on its left leg, inscribed with DMC in orange (the first colour-ringed LBBG I have recorded here).
It was ringed as a 1-year old bird at Gloucester landfill site on 17/05/2008, and re-sighted there on 4 occasions between June & September that year. It then appeared at Portimao in Portugal on 29/12/2008, some 1,707km WSW. Just over 2 years later it was back at Gloucester landfill (21/01/2011) but it hadn't been recorded since, until today.
Keep an eye out for those colour rings folks!
Also today a recent record count of 116 Wigeon on the lagoon.
