Despite the continuing wild weather, it was nice to hear from Stephen Coker (a local naturalist and County Dragonfly Recorder) earlier today that yellowhammers had returned to his land at Mountain Meadows near Clarbeston. He noted six of them from the window of his house this morning.
They disappear during the autumn/winter period apparently but are usually back in the area during spring and summer. It's good to know that a small population is still seemingly clinging on in that area!
