Carew Cheriton Firecrests

With no sightings in two days I was beginning to think perhaps they'd moved on - but no, just now a spectacular male flashing his crest just over the wall in the plantation (centre left of this photo of Firecrest Corner). On seeing that I didn't have my camera with me, he settled down to have a good preen about 10 feet away from me. I could hear another crest but couldn't see it.


All the usual birds plus a mistle thrush singing, redwing, a few greylags flew over...

PS...Returned, with camera, to find him flycatching over the stream....
