House Martins

A walk down to Butterhill Grange  around lunchtime.where there were 35 House Martin nest last year found small numbers of birds busily visiting and looked like starting to renovate their nests within a day of returning.  Maybe 15% of the breeding colony already active.  Just as we were leaving a flock of Jackdaws attacked a female Blackbird which escaped but was clearly damaged and sat there while it was picked up and put in a safe place.
LOTS more Blackcap today at Mullock and a Goshawk high overhead heading east around lunchtime.
